Coding is what we call getting speech-sounds into the brain. I’m trying not to be overly technical. So it might help if you know infants, right after birth, begin doing this. They listen to their mother’s speech, and their little brains suck in those sounds.
Coding is the first step in building your sound foundation. This step is as easy as nodding your head yes or shaking your head no. It’s a process of effortlessly absorbing English sounds and being aware of the impact the activity has on your belief in learning. When coding, we just don’t feel like we are working at learning.
The reason for the ease is that we just open ourselves to a little bit of listening without the stress of speaking. After all, language acquisition is about listening. Correct and easy speech is the result of listening. There’s no sense in speaking until you are mentally ready.
